Siksika Nation, in partnership with the Siksika Group of Companies, is embracing sustainable innovation by growing industrial hemp to combat climate change. Farming and ranching have been a legacy industry for Siksika families since the 1920s, and today, Siksika Farms and the Siksika Irrigation Land Corporation (SILC) manage over 5,000 irrigated acres and 3,700 dryland acres. By integrating industrial hemp into their operations, they are not only enhancing soil health but also actively capturing and storing atmospheric carbon.

As a registered participant in the Hemp Carbon Standard (HCS), Siksika Farms is committed to a 10-year carbon sequestration initiative, ensuring real, measurable, and lasting climate impact. HCS employs an advanced Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system with precision remote sensing technology to accurately track the carbon stored in hemp’s roots and biomass. Each carbon credit generated is independently certified by Control Union, a globally recognized organization, guaranteeing transparency and credibility.
By supporting these high-integrity carbon removal credits, businesses and individuals can contribute to environmental sustainability while directly empowering the economic and environmental future of Siksika Nation.
